The Australasian Living History Federation has launched an e-petition that calls on the Victorian Legislative Council to support exemptions for re-enactment and living history groups that use firearms - in other words, potentially any group re-enacting from about 1500 C.E. onwards - from proposed new fees for the permits (populous place permits, or PPPs) required for public performances.
The petition also addresses proposed increased licence fees for re-enactors and demands better consultation with re-enactment organisations around future regulatory changes.
The additional fees for PPPs have the potential to drastically reduce early modern, colonial and modern period re-enactments in Victoria.
